Julija Pustovrh

Julija Pustovrh lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. All her pieces are made by hand in her pottery studio in Edinburgh.

With her background in Landscape Architecture, Julija has always drawn inspiration from nature. Her work explores the fine line between real and imaginary plant worlds, looking at forms, structures and patterns in micro and macro scales.

Currently Julija is working on an ongoing project exploring the connection between Scottish landscapes and coastal features. She has been collecting sand from remote coasts of Scotland and is incorporating the sands in her current body of work - the Sandscape Collection. This collection comprises of
vases and tableware and is made from high-fired marbled stoneware, porcelain and sand collected from Scottish Highlands and Islands.

This mixture of materials gives each piece its own unique texture and colour pattern, reflecting the contours of the landscape and dynamism of wheel-thrown ceramics.
