About our founder & the joy of objects

Posted by Objects and Finds on

As a small independent brand, I wanted to share a little bit more about me, the founder of Objects & Finds and my story, (I always love reading about brand founders so it only seems fitting to share more about myself). Choosing to shop small with us not only supports our business to continue and do what we love, but in turn supports all the craftspeople and makers we work with. I'm forever passionate to grow our sustainable lifestyle store.

So I'm sharing a little bit about myself with you…

I'm Emma, I started Objects & Finds in October 2020 from my home studio, I had been developing the business for a while, it finally went live in the Autumn, so I'm now celebrating two years of thoughtfully growing this brand. We are a small independent business, based in the rural Scottish Borders where I curate our collections. I often collaborate with my partner who is a full time photographer and work on shoots together, Angus our dog is always close by.

Our location and the landscape of Scotland provide an endless source of inspiration. My background is in textiles so I'm always drawn to developing colour palettes through the collections and I love sourcing well made sustainable blankets and throws made of natural fibres to enhance the home.

This year we got involved with a few artisan markets and fairs. I love the interaction, the feedback and the positive words of support from customers for the collection. Feedback makes all the difference and I always love to hear what our customers think.

For me it's important that not only are our objects and finds well made, beautiful, functional and designed for longevity; every piece enhances the experience of daily living, whether cooking and eating with friends and family - enjoying home cooked food on handcrafted tableware, serving artisan bread on beautifully crafted boards or the pleasure of the perfect mug for morning rituals of fresh coffee, or the joy of enveloping in the cosiest pure wool blanket, enjoying candlelight with the dark evenings, by the log fire - it's about living slow and embracing the small moments...

I love the connections that well made objects can bring, to enhance the joy of day to day living. The moments we live, the memories we create, and building a home with stories to tell. I hope our store brings joy in the objects and finds that become part of your life and your story.
